Rob Fysh, Building Control Manager Rob is the principal surveyor at West Suffolk. Having worked in building control for 20 years, he has a wealth of experience in a variety of sectors including education, health care, shopping centres, public and private sector housing, as well as office and hotel developments. He has a proven track record for managing a high performing building control team and is driven to ensure that West Suffolk provides customers with the best local service. A combination of a reasoned approach and a reliable service, alongside a highly experienced and motivated team, are at the core of this provision.
Andrew Hiskett, Senior Building Control Surveyor Andrew is a member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and has worked in building control for around 15 years, gaining extensive experience working predominantly in the city environment. Recent projects he has worked on include multi-storey residential developments, complex commercial and multi-occupancy buildings, through to educational and healthcare establishments. Andrew is used to dealing with agents, applicants, design specialist and builders alike. Andrew is happy to discuss your proposal and to assist with the project transition no matter the size or complexity of the scheme.
Richard Sill, Senior Building Control Surveyor Richard is a University of Cambridge graduate and member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, who has been working in building control for over 10 years. He has worked with a number of building control teams and has experience of a wide variety of traditional and modern building techniques. Richard has worked on an array of different project types and sizes, including schools, hospitals, residential developments, and various commercial units. Having worked on such a diverse portfolio of projects, he is pragmatic and seeks to work with members of the design and construction team to provide the optimum service for each situation.
Michelle Webb, Senior Building Control Surveyor Michelle is a chartered member of the Association of Building Engineers and has 15 years experience as a building control surveyor within both local authority and the private sector. Prior to joining West Suffolk, Michelle worked in a busy building control team providing technical guidance to customers and support to fellow colleagues. Michelle's experience has proved invaluable in enabling her to provide relevant and practical solutions to problems and queries. Michelle has been involved in a range of residential and commercial projects working in the office as a project manager and working within a team to provide all aspects of the building control service.
Sam Paterson, Area Building Control Surveyor Sam has been working in the construction industry for over 10 years. The work he has been involved in encompasses new builds, extensions, renovations and historic refurbishments. This has given Sam a sound knowledge and understanding of construction and the practicalities of building. While working on such projects Sam has turned his hand to most forms of domestic construction, from ground works to masonry and timber framed construction, erection of roofs and internal finishes. Sam joined building control as a trainee and has used his extensive knowledge and experience to develop rapidly as a qualified surveyor.
Kelly Davis, Technical Support Kelly has been the technical assistant for West Suffolk Council for 29 years. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience within both planning and building control and is well respected by her peers, local residents and clients alike. No matter what your query may be, Kelly will assist you in a friendly, efficient manner to ensure your building regulations process runs smoothly.
Karen Palmer, Technical Support Karen is our Technical Support and has been with the local authority for 14 years. She currently validates building control and planning applications. Karen has a broad knowledge of the planning process and has recently joined us in Building Control to assist the team and learn new skills. Already Karen is a valuable member of the team and is looking forward to helping you with your building regulations submission.
Ryan Masterson, Apprentice Building Control Surveyor Ryan has recently joined the building control team within West Suffolk Council. He is working to gain a greater understanding of the building regulations and what the job requires, to help him complete his degree in building control surveying which he is studying for alongside work. Ryan has previous experience within the council work environment and interacting with customers daily and so understands their importance to the work we carry out. Ryan is looking forward to getting out onto site and meeting with customers, giving them help and advice on their works, to ensure a smooth efficient build.
Darrell McConnell, Senior Building Control Surveyor Darrell is a University of Anglia graduate and a member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers. He has been working in building control for nearly 30 years, both in the public and private sector. Darrell has experienced a wide variety of traditional and modern building techniques on an array of different project types and sizes, including schools, hospitals, residential developments, and various commercial complexes. He believes in a customer focused approach when dealing with agents, applicants, and contractors alike, and is more than happy to discuss any proposal to assist with the project transition from conception through to completion.
